    >>he old version (the first one) was, in my opinion, the best.>>

    The 1972 version?

If you did Atkins 3 years ago, was that the book you used? Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution?

If you had a book from 1995, it was outdated when you did Atkins the first time. The 1992 version wasn't much different from the 1972 version.

    >>I NEED to eat salads>>

Actually, you don't. There's no requirement that you ever have to eat lettuce (well, in the 1972 book you did ... but that was only the first week).

There's 55 Induction vegetables ... surely you must like enough of them to get along.

No, I think I had an early 1990s version, maybe '92 or '95. It definitely wasn't the 1972 book though, this I am certain. But, as an outdated book I was following, it was very easy for me. I don't recall the word "Revolution" in the title, though it could have very well been that book. Was the '72 book revised around 1995??

I remember struggling between salads and green veggies. None are favorites because I don't usually eat vegetables. The only green veggies I ended up eating were snow peas, green beans and brussel sprouts, with an occassional shrimp salad.

I have grown to love many things from the old Atkins days and, too this day, remain drinking diet sodas and Splenda for my coffee. I also found a favorite green veggie that I eat a lot these days, well... ever since my old diet, which are snow peas. I love snow peas and enjoy them as a snack, especially dipped in ranch dressing. But, my downfall has been breads, rice, potatoes and everything else I shouldn't be eating.

I also could never stop drinking the Atkins shakes. To this day, I drink one Milk Chocolate shake every day for breakfast. That's it, nothing more for breakfast. I buy cartons of them at Wal-Mart and always keep a big supply here. I love these, as well, and never miss a day.

Can you see how "off" I really am? *lol* I'll have an Atkins shake in the morning but, by night, I'm eating a slice of pizza or have meat with rice and corn, and then a Yoplait for dessert or a bag of popcorn. Ugh.

      I know, I know.... it's bad.

I really recommend a good clean induction if you can manage it. It always work to reorient me - which I need sometimes. Hope you can find some good recipes for veggies out there. Over the years people have really worked to collect them and make them really good. The secret to stay thin is often to cook right.
        Anyways welcome.

In 1972 there was Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution. In 1992, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution was published. New editions of DANDR were published in 1999 and 2002. Anything between 1992 and 1998 is the 1992 edition.

I remember struggling between salads and green veggies. None are favorites because I don't usually eat vegetables.
Well, that needs to change... you know that. Instead of waiting for that "new frame of mind" to come, just plan your meals so that they include enough veggies... then follow the plan. If you do this, I'm sure you'll soon create a new frame of mind.

The only green veggies I ended up eating were snow peas, green beans and brussel sprouts, with an occassional shrimp salad.
You may eat vegetables that are not green. Like pumpkin, cauliflower, radishes, tomatoes, red/yellow peppers, etc.

          diet sodas
Are you sure you want to drink those? They are junk and bring nothing good to your diet.

And don't forget that sweeteners are limited to 3 packets/servings per day. Each serving of diet soda counts as one serving of sweetener.

I also could never stop drinking the Atkins shakes.
          Sweet tooth?

I drink one Milk Chocolate shake every day for breakfast. That's it, nothing more for breakfast.
The shakes aren't meant to be daily meal replacements. Plus, it's real, whole foods that teach us healthy eating habits that we can maintain for life.

The 1992 book was mostly a rewrite of the 72 book.

            >>None are favorites because I don't usually eat vegetables.>>

Doing Atkins will be very difficult for you then.

            >> I also could never stop drinking the Atkins shakes.>>

            An addiction then?

            >> Can you see how "off" I really am?>>

            Yep.

            >> I know, I know.... it's bad.>>

            You're making the choices.

I sense that you're not really "committed" to Atkins ... yeah, you want to lose weight, but ...

When you're ready to change your choices, you will. Until then ...
