  • About Bubbalicious

    Hi,
My name is Jen and I'm a stay-at-home mom of 1 energetic 3 (almost) year old. I'm 37.
I started gaining weight in my early 30's. I swore I'd never get over 150, but after my son came that went out the window and I currently weigh around 215 (I haven't bought a scale yet).
I just started induction 3 days ago and want to make sure I'm doing things right. I have the book and am about 1/2 way through it.
I'm not sure if it's just my expectations, but I already feel more energetic. I got up at 5 am and made my husband breakfast! That never happens around here. (Hubby also says he is doing Atkins, but I saw an orange go into his lunch box today...I decided I'm not going to nag him until he sees how well it's working for me)
    About me:
I just started knitting again, which I always thought was WAY boring, but looking at some of the great stuff my mom has made has been very inspirational (my fav is the hooded "sweatshirt" with front pocket).
I also love to read, almost all novels. Some of my favorite authors are David Sedaris, Chuck Palanuik, John Steinbeck, Margaret Atwood......There's really too many to count. My current fav is Augusten Burroughs.
    I hate to work out.
I was a bartender before I decided to get pregnant. I loved my last job best. It was this great little dive bar (but don't call it that around the owner!) whose patrons were a great mix of punk, college slobs and sad old men. I also worked a lot of fine-dining on the Northern California Coast.
And that's about it. For now.

Hi Bubbalicious. I love me some David Sedaris, good call. Have you read anything by Sarah Vowell?

        Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Hi and welcome to ADBB. I’m glad you found the board, you'll find many helpful people here.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), exercise and take a non-iron multivitamin daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!!

        Good luck to you!
        Carole

Once you start exercising regularly, you might love it. Few of us loved exercising when we started. And find something you like to do, so that you stick to it.
