  • New from MD!

Hello fellow atkiners! I am 28 yo, 6'3 and started the Atkins WOE on December 29, 2009. I started at 292 pounds and today, 1/8/2010, I currently weigh 285 pounds. My goal is that I do not want to be bald, fat and 30! I am now balding, fat and a few days from 29.

My goal weight is 220 pounds and I plan to get their by July 1, 2010. My primary motivation is my four children and my beautiful wife. The oldest is 3 years old and I look forward to spending my 30's running circles around the litte ones and not sitting on a bench breathing hard and sweating. I really look forward to working with everyone.

The induction phase has gone pretty well. The hardest part was kicking the coffee and sodas and drinking more water.....which I hate. I eat out all the time for work and I dread the hidden carbs that float around in the entrees they call "low-carb." To be honest, I expected to lose more weight initially due to my large size, but I am pretty happy with losing 7 pounds in under two weeks. Once the caffeine withdrawal headaches subside, I anticipate feeling much better.

Good Luck and see you in the funny papers!

Is 7 pounds a good start for my size and almost two weeks? The success stories you read online say "I lost 15 pounds in a week"

There's no benefit in comparing your weight loss with others. Each of us will lose weight at our own pace. Plus, improvements in body weight don't always measure in pounds on the scale.

What is important is that you make Atkins your new way of eating for life. The rate of weight loss is really not important. If you follow the plan, weight loss will come.

An ex-admin at ADBB got to goal even though she lost no weight in the first two weeks. I've also seen people who lost 20-30 lbs in 2 weeks, but stopped Atkins after a month. Who do you think did better?

Don't forget to take body measurements, too. We can shed inches without losing pounds.

              Welcome!

You may hate water but your body depends on it to function properly -- learn to drink your 64 ounce daily minimum.

I agree not to compare or worry how much someone else lost....you are loosing - that's what matters.

              Good luck.
