  • Yet another try!

    Hello all,

I've had success with Atkins in the past. But then I start eating whatever I want again and gain it back! I guess that's how it will always work.

I want to lose 27 pounds. I've got a bunch of weddings to go to/wear bridesmaids dresses for this summer, so I'd like to be relatively svelte by then.

Today is day one. I enjoyed a great bacon and egg breakfast and grilled chicken for lunch and dinner. And black coffee and diet soda! I always love the beginning of Atkins, eating all these delicious foods. It's when I get too comfortable and start letting my guard down that I run into problems, and then just quit altogether. It's always, "Oh sure, I can have that beer with friends." And then after that beer I think, "Oh well since someone ordered nachos for the table, I can just have a few." I'm sure you all know how that ends up!

But I'm very excited to be back! Thanks for the great forum.

    Truly,

    Razwel

Not if you stop eating whatever you want again!

    What about after the weddings?

    >>black coffee and diet soda!>>

    Water?

    What about vegetables?

You get to eat a lot of delicious foods on maintenance, too!

      Ha! Thanks for writing.

The weddings are serving as a catalyst!

As for the water, I'm like a camel. But with meals, I prefer coffee and diet soda. If I can't have a glass of red wine with my dinner, Diet Coke tastes just as good. (Well, almost as good...)

You know that there's a limit of 3 servings of sweetener per day, right?

How much water are you drinking?

Thanks! I did not know about the sweetener limit. I had about 3 cans of caffeine free diet soda, so I guess I'm over the limit.

Don't really know how much water I drink a day. I usually fill up my glass or water bottle constantly throughout the day, so I never measure. Will keep a close eye on it from now on.

It's in chapter 11 and chapter 18 of your copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002).

64 ounces is the minimum ... and only water counts as water!

              Welcome, Razwel!

Make sure you get the book. It is essential to making Atkins a lifestyle rather than just another diet. Here we go by Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

Oh, and I hope you are eating vegetables, too! Atkins is not just meat, eggs and cheese. Without vegetables, it's not Atkins.

Wine isn't allowed with any meal until you move up to OWL (ongoing weight loss). Water is best for your body, not coffee, not soda, not wine......

Atkins isn't a diet you go on and off of to look good for a special event. It's a lifelong way of eating, when you loose some weight, stop eating Atkins way you will gain all the weight back and more...that is what is normal.

                  Good luck to you
                  Carole
