    Hi
My name is Nat. I have just started Atkins this week and still quite unsure of how it all fits together. Some advice would be great. Have to loose 40 pounds in 5 months!

    Hi Nat,

    Welcome.

Just what advice do you need?

My first bit of advice is a question for you-----Do you have and have you read the book?

You need to get off to a good start.

Why do you "have to"? What happens if you don't?

Did you gain 40 pounds in 5 months? If not, you shouldn't expect to lose it in 5 months. It's possible for that to happen, but you shouldn't expect it. This diet is not sorcery, but it does work. It's more like the fountain of youth. After a 14 day cheat free induction you will have a good idea of how your body takes to this WOE.

            Welcome Nat --

Follow the plan by the book, drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily (nothing added), exercise and take a multivitamin with no iron and you're body will reward you with weight loss at it's own speed. Don't get discouraged if you don't loose X pounds in X days....it doesn't always work that way.

            Good luck to you!

              Hi All
How fantastic to get all these replies. I have the book and have read it. I have made my shopping list and am on day 3 of the Induction Programme. I will definately drink lots of water. I am going for IVF in 5 months time and need to have my BMI in a normal range before they will attempt it. I have had one treatment and it did not work, so hopefully by loosing some weight and getting a bit more healthy we will be able to concieve this time.
Thanks everyone for all your advice.
