    Hello All

    Greetings!

Just joined the board. Been trying to decide which low carb program to follow. Have done Sugarbusters, Atkins and South Beach in the past 8 years. Went off track the past six months, but I NEED TO get back on track for GOOD.

I am *pretty sure* that the Atkins program is the one I can do and the one that is best for me. And I need all the information and support I can get!

Looking forward to the journey AND the destination!

    Welcome!

Here we follow Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution (2002), and most of our advice/support will be from there, so if you haven't read it, I do recommend you get a copy and do so - it's very good stuff!

        Re: Hello All

I'm sure my library has a copy. Is it really so different from the Atkins of 2001? Guess I'll find out when I read it, eh?

Once I get my ducks in a row, I'll start!

                Welcome to the Atkins Board.

To get started, make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago.

Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
                http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

                  >>s it really so different from the Atkins of 2001?>>

There was no Atkins of 2001.

                  Copyright dates are 1972, 1992, 1999, and 2002.

Well, I began Atkins in 2001 for the first time. That's all I know.

Then you probably had the 1999 book.

There are enough difference to warrant getting the one we use here.

                        Welcome, Selah!

I agree that it would be better to read the 2002 edition. It would be even better to have your own copy of it.
