  • Been there and done it

Hi, My name is Polly and I have been a success story of Atkins before. 7 years ago i lost 35 lbs. I successfully and effortlessly kept the weight off for about 4 years. About 2-3 years ago I started adding wheat & simple carbs back in my diet. I have always maintained a high workout level and so the weight only slowly crept back. Until that is this past summer when I piled on another 12 lbs.

Since Decemember I have been trying for a clean 2 week induction but have not made it yet. I am really motivated again and the kitchen is stocked so this past week has been a breeze. Nice to meet you all.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Good for you getting back on plan! This is a great place to be and you'll find all the support you want or need. I hope you have the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book it's the edition we follow on this site. Exercise, take a non-iron vitamin and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
        http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Since you've done Atkins before you may enjoy the STAC (second time around club), they have a daily sign in that people enjoy Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
        Carole

Re: Been there and done it

I've done the carb creep many times... but til 2 years ago I never went up more than 7lbs. I'm back on track now and have 30-35 lbs to go to get back to my prior weight/goal. 2 years of on and off, not staying on plan cost me!! It has been demoralizing to me that my "skinny" jeans will barely go to my hips!
sigpic48 yrs -5'6", back on Atkins OWL to lose the weight I gained from emotional eating.... 35 pounds! Atkins all the way since 2001! Minus 14lbs since Jan. 2nd 2010!

hahaha wow Do I understand the jeans feeling!!! I can totally relate. There is that line where when I can't get them on and then I lose ALL control and eat every carb in sight?! This weight thing is such 'mind screw' and a waste of energy. Honestly though, when I eat Atkins style I never go hungry and so never have that out of control feeling. It really works and keep my weight in a perfect spot. I am over the obsessive first couple weeks and settled back into the A woe. The 'carb creep' lol that is so funny!!! ok just put some new tunes on my ipod and off to the gym!
