Good Morning All, I am a 40 year old female who has been heavy set all of my life. I am a big boned, and always claimed that on being heavy lol... I am now at the point in my life where I want to lose weight and have a better lifestyle. Im to be married in November to a wonderful man who loves me just the way I am...But I want to become someone that he will be very proud of.. I currently weigh 215 and would like to reach 150 - 140... I have tried Atkins before and lost 14 pounds during induction and then I broke up with him and gained it all back, Im sure that many have been on that side of the fence before lol... I have been visiting this site for about 2 weeks and love all of the positiveness and support that I see.... I start Atkins tomorrow 04/18/05 and hope to reach my goal by 11/18/05.... I'll keep you informed of my progress..

I shall not meet thee as thy wishes.....but at the proper time, place and date, the will of God will bring us together, no matter what path of the labyrinth life shall take us too.. I have faith that God will intervene when it's his will and not ours.....

        Karen, welcome to the board!

        Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I would only offer one piece of advice regarding goals and specific dates. (I know this will be hard given that it is your wedding, but anyway). I set dates and goals as well but I don't get too wrapped up in the date. If I strive to meet it doing the "BEST THAT I CAN" even if I don't, I am closer than I would have been if I had never started. I have seen ao many people quit because they didn't meet a goal by such-and-such date. They failed to realize that they were thinner and healthier than they were before they started.

So shoot for your goal by wedding day, but if you miss by 10 or 20 pounds, consider that you are a lot lighter and healthier than you were. Besides on that day you will be the most beautiful girl in sight, and nobody but youo will know what you weigh, only that you look fabulous in your gown.

        Good luck!
        Jim

Congratulations Karen, on your upcoming wedding. And Welcome to board.

You have come to the right place for support and positive reinforcement.
We have all been there, done that.
But you know what? If you do this for you, you will be much happier and so proud of yourself. I know you want to make him proud, and I have no doubt you will. But do this for you sweety! Your self esteem and confidence will shine through on your wedding day, more than ever. Because you know you have made a lifestyle change that will last you forever! Just think, you are going to be healthier and more energetic than ever before. That alone is worth the journey.

I wish you much success... Can't wait to hear all about the wedding. You must be so excited.

          Hugs,Tammy

              Day 6

Hi All, thanks for the wonderful welcome....

Well, here it is day six and I couldnt wait for Monday to roll around to check my weight, so I weighed this morning and have lost 8 pounds.......I'm soooo excited.. I feel that I have the gumption and will power to really succeed and reach my goals.

My diet this week has consisted only of Meat, Cheese, Eggs, Lettuce and 2 table spoons of Ranch dressing on every salad I have ate for lunch. Is that ok to be eating?

Im not a bit hungry, I just have those cravings. I was at the grocery store last night and they had some brand new Chocolate covered Oreo cookies, they were in the small packs and had 2 in a pack......I bought 2 packs and brought home for my daughter to eat...Ohhh let me tell you I craved them sooooo bad, but I resisted the urge to eat even just one... I told my daughter to let me at least smell them lol...and you know what? Smelling them satisfied my urge.

I turned down donuts at the office, (which was hard) I turned down an ice cream reward from work (which was hard too) BUT, I have a goal now and I know I can live thru the urges and temptations..

I have been walking a half a mile a day, and plan on going a mile each day beginning Monday. I went to Curves fitness center last night to check it out and I went around twice on those machines...I thought I was going to die and there was NO WAY I could have went the third time lol

Does anyone on this board participate in the Curves program? If so what has it done for you? And would you recommend me joining and adding that to my lifestyle?

              Thanks, Karen

                  Hi Karen,

Sorry you didn't get a response on your thread!! It's pretty much just a welcome board. So I don't check the older threads as often as I should.
                  Please forgive me...
                  Woohoo for you girly!!!

You are doing a wonderful job. I think Curves is a wonderful program. I live to far out in the Country, otherwise I would jump at the chance to be involved in a program like that. There are many here that do belong to Curves. I say, go for it!! :icondance :icondance :icondance :icondance

You may want to introduce yourself on the 14 day Induction thread, although you are about finished with the first 14 days. There are still a lot of issues with this WOL that can be addressed there. You can click this link and take a look.

Also, if you intend to stick to Induction level carbs you can say howdy in the Extended Induction forums... There are so many resources here ...
Have fun and keep up the fantastic work!!

                  Hugs,Tammy
