Woke up one day, 38 years old and fat. Used to go hiking alot in the Adirondacks, but stopped when my fiance got pregnant. Went for a hike with some friends, then saw the pictures in a trip report on a hiking forum. Weighed myself at work the next day, 276lbs. Did a google search, found this website, started doing the water challenge and eating according to what I have read worked for others on here. 15 days in, 15 pounds lost--Setting a goal to be 199lbs, with goals of 10 pounds at a time. Tough to find time to exercise between the new baby and working, plus I live in the snowbelt of central new york, but I am snowshoeing and Xcountry skiing 5 days a week. The biggest change was drinking the water, I force it down all day. I will add some before and after pics when I feel a bit better about myself--anyway, great forum, and I've been reading it every day for support--even have 2 co-workers reading it and doing it.

Hiya, Hillman! Welcome and congrats on your progress so far!
I'm the parent of a 4-1/2 month old baby girl, so I hear you on how hard it is to get in exercise with an infant demanding your full attention!
Do please go get the book as others have mentioned- there's all sorts of good stuff in there you won't find anywhere else, and after reading and re-reading it several times, I find I gain new insights as I'm learning and working through the complete program.
Good luck in your journey!

Re: New to Atkins, love the forum
Hi and welcome?
What water challenge are you doing? I run the challenge and can't find where you joined us this month. You are welcome to - hope you will consider it.
You should have the book, not take your friends from work's word for what you learn. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago. A small price to pay for making yourself healthy.
Eat only foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What foods can be eaten on Induction?) make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.
Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!
If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!
