  • Hello! New member :)

I'm new I've been doing atkins on and off for about a year and a half now- start weight was 224 pounds and I'm now 198 pounds...Have been overweight pretty much my whole life! anyway, would love to get in touch with some people that also do atkins and hear their stories- I'm a little scared, because I have no idea what it'll be like to not have the fat! :-O

    Welcome to ADBB!

Why do you do Atkins "on and off"?

on and off due to lack of confidence I'm afraid! I don't know, I've been told all my life I'm just *meant* to be bigger- which I don't believe of course! but on and off because I think I've never seen a smaller me, so I don't know whether I *really* believe it can happen!

does that make sense?? I'm going to stick at it this time!

Welcome to ADBB. I have been "on and off" like you for over 5 years now. I have maintained a 65-70 pound loss for 4+ years. The one thing I have found is that I am not so bogged down in the issue of looking thin. It is about feeling good and having energy and looking fit (as opposed to thin). IMO this shift of focus is for the best. Its not about having the pounds off so much as feeling good and fit.
