  • New to ADBB :) Hi all xx

    Hello all well as title suggests im new.
    hi im lyn, im 29 and a mum to 5 children, aged 13,6,4,2,and 7months.
    im also hypothyroid , i have been for 10 years now.
    always struggled with weight since before onset of thyroid condition, but, when it did weight ballooned. 11 years ago took 2.5 years to get put onto treatment , then since having 4 more babies, ive gained and lost weight worse than a yoyo and the last three babies ive gained and not been able to shift more than the allusive 1/2 stone (7lbs) woop woop
    anyhows im here after trying every diet in the world and more, despite diet drinks, shakes, pills, colonics, allsorts, that you know are hype yet still think to myself if i dont try it, it may have worked so this is it!!
    Atkins is the one to try, my last hope, my last big effort coz i know this is it for life, not just a 'diet' i wanna be able to run around with my kids take them swimming and not just get out of breath watching them!
    ive tried albeit not wholeheartedly before, got the book read it over and over and keep it with me for constant reassurance and pointers, im in the place where i no longer look in the mirror, wont take one glance at a camera feeling like i cant go out coz i look such a state and none of my clothes look good , only about three items i would want to wear and even then hate the sight of me, feel embarrased at the thought of people feeling sorry for my toned thin hubby being with a 'fatty' my kids act like they dont know me when out and about.
    so anyways im here for the support network the chatty banter and understanding when we slip up and have issues, i know its taken 5-6 years to get in this state it may take that long to 'recover' but i gotta do it NOW!!

    Which edition of the book do you have? Is it 2002?

      Congrats on having all those babies. Sounds wonderful. You must have a really full house and a busy life so make sure you plan things around your foods for yourself. This will be very important. You will have to be strict. Us hypos lose fine with Atkins but we do not always lose fast - you are taking meds for your hypo yes.
      And don't be so down on yourself. You have to find what is worth in yourself - and be proud of it. What you weigh or do not weigh have nothing to do with that.

        Welcome to ADBB

        Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

        Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

          and yeah thank for info hypo's im on 175mg daily for my thyroid ty.
