  • Here i am, and I'm ready.....

Hi everyone. Just taking a moment to introduce myself. I am a 35 year old mother of 2 with a lot of weight to lose. I started out in February of last year at my all time highest weight of 296. I had gained over 100 lbs. after developing severe hypothyroidism with my 2nd pregnancy. I got on my thyroid meds to get that under control, but then came the daunting task of trying to lose the weight. I chose to do low carb because you can see the results so quickly. I had lost 72 lbs by August of 2009, and was feeling quite proud of myself. But then I started to slack off and eat a little bit of this and a little too much of that, and ended up putting back on 28 lbs. So I started a food journal and watching my calorie intake, and I've taken off 14 lbs., but I'm losing interest again, because it's not coming off fast enough. So here I am, getting ready to start back on my low carb journey in hopes that I can get back to the me I was before I gained it all to begin with. I'm so thankful I found this forum and hope to see the results that so many of you already are. Thanks for taking a moment to read this and wish me luck. I need all the help I can get!

I don't think that's important. What really matters is how you want to eat for life. Do you intend to do Atkins for life?

    watching my calorie intake
What exactly does this mean? Are you sure you're not undereating?

It's net carbs that are important on Atkins, not so much calories.

I'm losing interest again, because it's not coming off fast enough
Atkins is not a quick fix.

Are you reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

          Thanks to all who replied.

Thin will/does feel very good, that's why I'm so anxious to get back there.

Yes, I plan on eating this way for as long as I possibly can. I don't see any reason why I wouldn't be able to eat this way for life. I purchased the book yesterday, so I haven't read it all yet, but I'm working on it. I'm not necessarily looking for Atkins to be a quick fix, but when you battle with weight on and off your entire life, finding a diet that shows results so quickly is an excellent motivator to me.

I understand your thinking BUT remember, you didn't pur your weight on overnight and it's going to take time to get the weight off. Doing it in a healthy fashion is the best thing you can do for yourself, for your health and for your family. It would be nice for all the weight to fall off overnight but in the real world it doesn't happen that way.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” - eat NO MORE than 20 net carbs daily. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.
Find recipes your family will enjoy with you -- the mock-a-foni and cheese and stuffed peppers are big hits with my family - and they don't follow the plan daily like I do.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!
