  • Day 3 of Induction

So I went to see my doctor last Thrusday and she suggested that I get stomach surgery to control my weight! Like what doctor would suggest that before anything else! So I decided to take matters into my own hand and try out this Atkins diet.

I started on Monday and the only thing that I notice different is that my mood is OUT OF CONTROL!!!! Did anyone else have this happen to them?

Also, can anyone give me pointer of the proper things to eat during induction that worked for them. It just seems so weird to me that I can eat what I am eating and be expected to lose weight.

    HELP!

    Welcome to ADBB!

    >> Also, can anyone give me pointer of the proper things to eat during induction that worked for them.>>

Eat only from the list of Acceptable Foods for Induction ... as they are in your copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002).

Telling you what foods work for me is pointless ... you need to learn what foods work for YOU.

If you need a list to print out:

Absolutely.Hopefully 2big4mysize will come on and see this and tell you why, but its something about your hormones and losing fat, and it can cause mood swings. Its the estrogen thing. It really affects ladies. If your interested PM 2big4mysize and ask her to tell you. She has told me about 1000 times but my brain doesn't remember these things.

Welcome to the board, it's great to have you here!!!!

Congratulations on taking matters into your own hands...I know that if you make this way of eating your life, you will succeed.

Hang in there....for some people Induction can be a little hair raising because your body is detoxing. Please be sure to drink lots of water (it will flush your system out faster, take some vitamins and fit some form of exercise into your daily routine even if it's a walk to the end of the street...not only will it be good for weight loss but also emotionally as well....exercise reduces stress levels.

Hang in there...as the old saying goes "this too shall pass".....it's gets easier.

It's great to meet you, I look forward to hearing how things are progressing for you.

            Cheers!

It's my understanding estrogen is stored in fat cells. When you lose fat fast your levels temporarily go up and it can cause mood swings. It will level out. Just stick with.

                  Re: Day 3 of Induction

                  Welcome to the Atkins Board.

Have you read the book so you knoe what you're doing and the different phases of the Atkins plan? If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” - keeping at 20 carbs daily. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
                  http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

hey darling. i too am on day three. i cant believe your doc said that you should consider surgery and although i dont know you i am very proud of you for not getting it.
im a vegetarian, the first 7 attempts were like this: moody, i had bad head aches, and i felt crappy. so this is the reason why i stopped doing atkins was because this felt like why would anyone put themselves through this?? well i woke up and said im going to do it . i have minor head aches, but no moody-ness, i feel a bit fatigued but all in all its been a ton better for me to do it this way then the last few times. i've been having hormonal problems maybe this is something that you should look into. its just a suggestion to help a fellow Atkinee ** much peace** god luck!!

Have your moood swings faded... hopefully you are past the sugar withdrawal and not craving sugar at this point. Hope you stick with it... cuz beleive it or not. I was sleptical too... how can someone lose weight eating all this fat and so much pork and meat. Well, it does work as long as you do it by the book. Good Luck.

                        Re: Day 3 of Induction

I am very new to this but I will say that after about a week, I felt no compulsion for the sugar/carbs I had been overloading myself with. I was simply astounded that the serious and continual craving simply vanished.

I am post menopausal so this probably makes a difference between us if you are not but to tell you the truth, I found my irritation swings to radically reduce by the fourth day. It has remained reduced, it makes me much more aware of the impact of the sugar/bad carbs had on my body.

The first few days I felt hungry ALL the time but that also completely passed. I just ate an awful lot of baked chicken and tuna mixed with some mayo and a bit of spicy brown mustard and didn't worry about it and still lost weight. This might be "bad" advice as I have not read the book and am beginning to realize that I know nothing factual about this diet..
