  • Glad to hear people having success

Hi my name is Melanie. I am a 31 year old mother of three. I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. At one point when I was in my late teens/early twent I became I guess a little anorexic. I am 5'9 and at one point I weighed 117lbs. I now weigh more than twice that. I would be happy at around 160. Before my kids I weighed about 145. I have been on this diet before and had some success of a 50lb loss, but I gained it all back plus some. I am sick of being too fat to run and play with my kids. I am really trying to make this my lifestyle. I am struggling a bit in induction, only lost around 10-11lbs in 17 days. I had much better results the first time, but I'm sticking to it. I am excited for the future.

Wonderful that you are sticking to it. That is what it takes. And don't compare yourself to others this is your journey. BTW I have to say 10 lbs is marvellous. You should be proud.
Also don't expect things to be as before. Atkins wrote in this book that when his patients muttered that they were not losing as fast as the first time that he told them send their complaints to Father Time. I suspect this was a joke but we change when we have kids and those years change our metabolism - it will be different. But just stick to it and work it out.
Eat your veggies and be healthy.

As Liv said, this is not the last time. And 10-11 lbs is about 10% of the weight you needed to lose when you started. That's a good result and shows that you have an average to low degree of metabolic resistance.

I gained it all back plus some
Did you progress through all the phases of Atkins last time or did you only do Induction?

            Welcome to the ADBB, Melanie!

Have you read the book? We use the 2002 edition of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution here. It really makes the plan make sense and is a must read.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Good for you getting back on plan! This is a great place to be and you'll find all the support you want or need. I hope you have the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book it's the edition we follow on this site. Exercise, take a non-iron vitamin and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
              http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Since you've done Atkins before you may enjoy the STAC (second time around club), they have a daily sign in that people enjoy Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
