  • New and missing information??

    Hi,

    I am 38 yr married mom of 3. 5'4. SW 151 Goal 128
I am on Day 9 of Induction for the first time. I have lost 7 pounds, but things have really slowed down in the last couple days.

I have read the entire book, but from reading some forums, I feel like I am missing some information.
My book is the one published in the 1990s. He says that Cheese is Free. Others say limit to 3-4 oz per day. In any case, if keeping under 4 oz, do you count those carbs or are they free?

Also, people talk about Rungs, but Dr. does not mention those in my book. Is that the number of times you have added 5 carbs?

I am glad to have found this group because I do not like t discuss Atkins diet with people as most people are misinformed and will immediately say how horrible it is for you.

    >>things have really slowed down in the last couple days.>>

    That happens.

    >> My book is the one published in the 1990s.>>

You really need the 2002 book. That's the one that's used here.

    >>He says that Cheese is Free.>>

    That was then.

    >>Others say limit to 3-4 oz per day.>>

This is now ... the 2002 edition.

    >In any case, if keeping under 4 oz, do you count those carbs or are they free?>>

Cheese always has carbs ... and you count the carbs (net) of everything you eat.

    >>people talk about Rungs, but Dr. does not mention those in my book.>>

The OWL carb ladder is in the 2002 edition.

"Rungs" aren't mentioned there either, it's just a term that's generally used because in a ladder, each step is a rung.

    >>Is that the number of times you have added 5 carbs?>>

    5 net carbs ... yes.

It's each time you add in a new food group.

You can look at some of the stickies here:

Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) - Atkins Diet

I would, however, urge you to get a copy of the 2002 edition of the book.

Hi in China. Glad to have you with us.
Atkins did modify his programme over the years as he worked with his patients. So here we do use that last book. Following the recommendations in it works for practically everyone. Hope you can find the book.
Here are some threads in our FAQ that will help you.

Thanks everyone. I will try and find the book, but will have to order it over internet as it is not available here. (And it will take weeks to arrive...) Anyway, does it have same title exactly?

Thanks for the offer Jill. I'm in Shanghai. Hello down there. Nice to know there is someone else doing Atkins over here.
