  • Finally admitting...need help w/motivation

Hi everyone...well, I'm back. Almost eight/nine months after being off this way of eating...i need to be back.

But, I'm going to admit it, I need help. I can't seem to get motivated to get back on plan. I'll get up say 'today is the day' and then by dinner I have strayed off course.

I have been on Atkins before. I felt better, had great energy, lost a lot of weight, felt incredible. It just seems when life throws something at me...I think macaroni and cheese and subway will cure it! Not, a strong mind/body combination.

I have to get back on track. I larger now than when I gave birth to my daughter. My hips/knees hurt, I have no motivation to go work out, I am cranky, tired, irritable and just plain miserable.

I just made a commitment to make work changes and cut back on the hours (was doing 80 hrs a week). I need to make this a commitment too.

Can anyone/Is anyone willing to help?

    I'm so tired and frustrated...

    thanks...

    SECOND TIME AROUND MEMBER:

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Good for you getting back on plan! This is a great place to be and you'll find all the support you want or need. I hope you have the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book it's the edition we follow on this site. Exercise, take a non-iron vitamin and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
    http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Since you've done Atkins before you may enjoy the STAC (second time around club), they have a daily sign in that people enjoy Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.

Hi Hoping--I know how you feel and have been there many times. In fact I am there now. The only thing I can do is try each day to cover all the bases, and if I screw up, try again the next day. Sooner or later I will get a day when it all comes together and that gives me a day to build on. Then it gets easier and I get more motivated to make it 2, then 3. Keep trying. Stock the frig. Plan out some menus. Shoot for even 5 minutes of exercise, but keep trying til things click.

        Welcome back to Atkins, Hoping!

I find that using FitDay, either online or the PC version, helps me stay on track. Every time I eat something, I enter it in the food log and then check the pie charts and graphs to see how the percentages have changed and it really works. It's like a game and I've learned so much about the things I ate without thinking that it's changed the way I eat. So try it and let us know if it helps.

For exercise, you could do some walking. The longer you do it, the better you'll feel about it... and about you.

Both the turkey and the ham have sugars and corn starch.

Do they have some Italian dressing other than the one listed on their website? That one is 7 net carbs per serving (2 oz) and its ingredients would definitely not make it appropriate on Atkins:

water, vinegar, sugar, corn syrup, salt, Parmesan and Romano made from cow’s milk cheese (part-skim milk, cheese culture, salt, enzymes), Contains less than 2% of garlic onion juice, molasses, phosphoric acid, xanthan gum, whey, with potassium sorbate and calcium disodium EDTA as preservatives, dried bell peppers, propylene glycol alginate, yeast extract, spice, buttermilk, lemon juice concentrate, dried garlic, sodium phosphate, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, caramel color, enzymes, vitamin E acetate, oleoresin paprika.
