  • Type 2 Diabetic DETERMINED!!

    Hi I am John.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone who as embarked on to the Atkins Diet Road. I keep starting this but I keep stalling. I am now, more than ever, determined to stay on the induction and lower my weight as well as my blood sugar. I think I am going to need a lot of help LOL...

The main thing is eating right. My only reservation is that it is extremely hard to prepare all the foods and I quite because it becomes inconvenient on measuring every single thing you want to eat. i just want a simple plan to follow. Day 1 Eat this, Day 2 eat this etc...

    anyways... the journey begins anew!!

    Thanks for reading!!

      Hi there and welcome aboard!

You don't really need to 'measure' your food so much as just be mindful of what goes in your mouth.

For 'limited' foods, like salad I'll have a handful or use a measuring cup to scoop it out. Same w/ veggies.

Cheese is easy, you know an ouce is like a regular slice or a small cube (like a domino). I do weigh my cheese when it's shredded though but shredded goes a long way!

Other than that there's not too much to measure. If you use a dressing just be mindful of the amount, if you need to just pour it into a TBSP and go from there..

Anyway, it gets easier and soon you know what/how much you're eating.

And to be honest when I started Atkins I didn't really measure but lost JUST FINE

      Good luck!
Started Atkins on December 8th, 2005

        Re: Type 2 Diabetic DETERMINED!!

        Welcome, John!

        I keep stalling
A stall is four consecutive weeks with no weight loss or loss of inches.

        So... are you really stalling?

it is extremely hard to prepare all the foods
I don't think it's "hard" to prepare your foods. It might be less comfortable than what you were doing before... but that kind of comfort will only damage your health.

The longer you follow Atkins, the more used you'll become with cooking your meals and planning your menus... and doing that will be your new "normal".

i just want a simple plan to follow. Day 1 Eat this, Day 2 eat this etc.
Did you make a plan then?

If you plan your menus a few days in advance, you'll know what to eat each day.

To get started, make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
          http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

I'm Type 2 and have seen a remarkable difference in my sugar levels and my A1C since I started. The more strict you are the better you'll do and the better your results will be. Take 1 day a week and plan and make ahead a few things for the week to eat - it doesn't take that much time and remember, your health is worth the time.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!
