  • Hi Everyone!

Hello everyone. This is Day 2 on Phase one and so far so good. I figured I would join this forum for much needed motivation because I don't have any will power! My dad did this diet a few years ago and was super successful. I need to loose about 25-30 lbs so not too too much, but I have tried everything and I hate working out vigorously. I work full-time and I am a full-time student, so my dad suggest this. I do currently walk like 3 times a week and once I get a little more energy I will add 2 more days. If anyone has any advice I welcome it. Good luck everyone!

    Welcome!

The biggest piece of advice I have is to read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), and to realize that Atkins isn't a "diet" ... it's an eating plan for the rest of your life!

      Re: Hi Everyone!

Welcome to the Atkins Board Shanna.

To get started, make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
      http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

The walking you are doing is great! When you start feeling more energetic try adding some strength training to the mix - you don't have to buy a gym membership you can do this at home with things around you. Take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!

          Hi liv!

Doing good. I found out today Im 10 pounds more than what I thought, but I just count it as motivation. I'm also concerned with Restaurants and fast food. Is it really safe to have a burger with no bun? and what is the limit to patties.

            Re: Hi Everyone!

The patties are OK if they are made with real beef. Not all food places do this - some have fillers. You need to check their websites for more info. MacDonalds use real beef. Now the ketchup and the cheese however you will have to think about.
