Hi, I'm *verynervous* and I live in Birmingham, Alabama. (Anyone else around here?) I've lost 65 pounds due to medicine side effects, which happens now and then, and I always gain it back. I've got about 18 pounds left to lose, but that's secondary to my real motivations for being on Atkins.
I've got epilepsy, GERD, and hormonal mood challenges -- I accidentally found (to my utter SHOCK) that being in ketosis controls all of those to varying degrees. Ketogenic diets can actually control epilepsy in some children equally as well as medicine. But I digress.
My diet is extremely limited already. I'm allergic to milk and shellfish, and can't have caffeine or any foods that irritate GERD. I've always loved meat and vegetables. So you can see there's very little about my health I can actively control, and knowing this diet makes me feel better AND helps me lose weight AND is easy to build around my food allergies.... is very encouraging.
I'm extremely self-conscious talking about what I eat. I have the support of the people in my life, since they know all the benefits I'm getting aside from weight loss. But there are some questions The Google just can't answer.
I love the diet and I've found the hard parts to be avoiding scotch (still on induction - almost at the 2 week mark), not eating soy ice cream (my one comfort food), and not having the ability to snack on my old low-cal go-tos when I wanted something quick and crunchy (when can I eat dill pickles again??).

Hi.

You've come to a great place for answers to this WOE. You may not get the answers you want (the only source of squabbles here), but you'll always get the truth
. And if you've done any reading on the site, I'm sure you've read that you need to read the book in order to do a clean induction. You have read the book haven't you
??? Get the induction list out, and follow it to a -T-, and you'll sail through it. You know your own dietary restrictions and will have to figure it out from there.
