    HI EVERYONE......

My name is Summer and im 22yrs old. Im a stay at home mom to an ADORABLE 2yr old boy. I am on day 7 and have lost 5lbs!!! I am soooooo excited, motivated and thrilled to be on this diet. I like many of you have had problems with my weight ever since i was a kid. I think i weighed 165lbs in high school and as soon as i graduated and got the heck out of town(lol) i lost alot of it and got down to a 145lbs. I think my weight gain had alot to do with the fact that i grew up in the foster system and i felt that if anything food will always be there.... and it was!!! I got married young(19) and pregnant(bye 145lbs) right away and gained 80LBS!!!!!!! i lost about 20lbs and was at about 200lbs when my husband who was in the navy got out and got a great job offer......500 miles away from all my family and friends!!! so i then got super depressed and then got pregnant again lost the baby and then got even more depressed!! 45lbs later i weighed 245lbs the heaviest i have ever weighed in my life.... and that made me even more depressed and then i decided i need to stop with the talking the talk and actually start walking the walk!! I am sooooo glad i did because i really do want to get healthy not only for me but for my son!! so thats a little about me if u wanna talk ,chat ,get to know me some more let me know! im super down to earth and reallly easy to get along with!!

oh and sorry if i rammbled...i tend to do that!!

Welcome to both of you. Yes Snunky, the book is important so do get it! Summer the depression-eating for comfort-depression cycle is deadly so I am glad you are breaking it now! This is the best eating for life I have found. I always feel healthier when I am true to Atkins.

Snunky- I personally just use some tillamook cheese and im not a huge fan of bacon so i dont eat any. As soon as you get the book it will tell you what you can eat on what phase and then come here for recipes because they have alot of good ones. Good luck and WELCOME

its crazy actually i have only been on it since last monday and i honestly feel soooo much better. im actually up and doing things instead of being such a couch potato. My son loves it cuz im playing with him more(how sad is that) and my husand loves it because he notices how motivated i am. the whole depression thing sucks but for some weird way i feel like this diet is going to help me with it. And to top it off im soooo not hungry. i have to remind myself to eat sometimes. did that happen to you when u this early on?

          Welcome to the Atkins Board.

To get started, make sure you read the book - it will give you the knowledge you need to get to your goal. If you can’t find a copy locally of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) check online at
www.half.com or www.amazon.com – I got a “used” copy recently for less than $5.00 including shipping not long ago.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html. Make sure you read the ingredients of everything you eat, not just the carb total on the package -- also make sure you're counting "net carbs" - that's carbs minus fiber which equals "net carbs" Use a program like www.Fitday.com which will help you keep track of what you're eating to make sure you eat enough -- don't undereat - that's worse than overeating when you're trying to get your metabolism in the loosing mode.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there!
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. Many of the challenges are starting again - check to see if there are any you are interested in - it's a great way to meet people.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!
          Carole

                Re: 22/f/ on day 7

Welcome & good luck to both of you. The first two weeks are the hardest, so just stick with it and you'll feel better before you know it. Check in here often. Read a sticky or two every day and learn more about the Atkins way. It'll really help you understand the program and why so many people fail (because they were never doing Atkins, but rather, low carb something or other).

Summer, I think we can all relate to your weight gain (that's why we're here, no?). It 's amazing how good you'll feel when you start to look good. Not to mention when you can start moving around better and keeping up with the little guy.

Oh ya, drink lots of water...

                  Thank you PolarBearKing.

i was just telling my husband that our son is in better shape then i am and we laughed becasue its sooo true. hahah

                  question...what is a "sticky"?

oh and i drink 4 32oz container things of water a day. which is probably the most water i have ever drank in my life but it came in handy today when i was hungrier that i have been in like 4 days.

                    question...what is a "sticky"?
In each forum (This is the Spotlight Introduce Yourself" forum) are "threads. This thread is called 22/f on day 7, and each reply to your thread is called a "post".

Sticky's are threads that remain at the top of each forum. They are loaded with great information and someone (Admin or a Moderator) made it a "sticky" so it is easily found for others to see and read. If those threads were not made into "sticky's, then they would get bumped down the page as newer threads are started. Eventually they would get bumped off of the first page and possibly forgotten.

                    Hope that helps.

BTW, great job on the water!
