  • Need some help I think

Hi everyone. I joined today because I am having problems staying motivated and thought you all could help me. I did this and lost 47 lbs about 7 yrs ago. I know I can do it, but it's different this time. 2 days into the diet I found out I have a pulled hamstring, arthritis in the same knee and bursitis in my hip. Until I get this worked out, excersise is out says the dr. I have been doing what I can but...! I know I don't eat right too. Some days I know I don't get enough calories but I don't know what else to do. Today I had an MIM with just a tease of sugar free preserves, bacon and decaf for breakfast, lunch was salad with tomato, ham, a few greens from green onion with very light creamy garlic dressing. For a snack I had a handful of pork rinds. Not sure about dinner yet. Probably a hamburger without the bun with pickles and maybe some broccoli with butter. I am waiting for the sweet cravings to stop. They haven't yet. If anyone has any ideas at all, please let me know. (oh and what does ADBB mean? ) Thanks everyone.

    Welcome!

ADBB is the name of this group (Atkins Diet Bulletin Board).

<< just a tease of sugar free preserves,>>

    Not allowed on Induction.

    >>ome days I know I don't get enough calories but I don't know what else to do.>>

    Eat more fat.

Are you planning out your meals ahead of time?

    That's really helpful.

2 days probably isn't enough time to stop the sweet cravings.

Also ... don't compare "this time" to 7 years ago.

And ... don't fret about not being able to exercise right now ... focus on your eating, and let your body heal.

      Welcome...

...Can you do upper body exercise with weights?

And I don't know how limited you are in the use of your legs, but if your doctor approves, there are also very mild exercises you can do with your legs while sitting.

You can check out the internet for these as well as on demand.
List of All ExerciseTV Workout Videos - ExerciseTV

There is a class at my park district for seniors -- they do a 45 minute class all while sitting, doing limited leg movements, arm movements, very light weights, and stretching. Most ladies are in their 80's and 90's, and one woman is turning 101 years in a few months. So you could still do some movements without jumping around or doing squats or lunges if you can find one of these types on line or order one. AGAIN-If it is OK with your DOC.---Just a thought

Re: Need some help I think

I am starting physical therapy on Feb 9th and then we'll see from there. Might have to have injections in my hip. ouch!

I try to plan my meals for the day when I get up and that usually works for me. For breakfast I either have an MIM or a 2 egg (mushroom or bacom or ham) omelet. I knew the preserves were not allowed but it was one of those oh no's that I have to make up for.

I have been doing upper body weight training. I am very active and am used to excersising daily.

The sweet cravings take a while to pass - for me, it took several weeks, for some people it takes less time. Motivation is diffrerent for everyone - why do YOU want to do this...make a list & look at it everytime you feel like quitting or cheating

Why not try planning for the next day, too.

Re: Need some help I think

                Welcome --

You know the sugar free preserves weren't allowed - it's foods you choose to eat that will keep your sweet tooth active.....it's hard but kill it and it will stay away -- it took me a few days for mine to go away but once it did my life was much easier.

Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html. I make meal plans for for 2 to 3 days in advance so I have no excuses about eating what I shouldn't.

Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

How much pure water are you drinking daily? The minimum is 64 ounces (nothing added - just water)...try to get enough food in daily and not under eat. Check some of the challenges that are starting - not all are exercise challenges and you may find some you can do that are exercise related...good luck to you!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
