            Welcome Paul --

Are you still in induction? If so you should think about moving to OWL and start adding foods back in...to keep your weight off you need time to find the foods you can eat without problems and those that may trigger problems for you.

Congratulations on your weight loss -- if you had moved to OWL most everything you considered your "cheat" meals would have been "legal".....

              Re: new member great results...

Just checked the scale this morning
              Feb 2nd 166.6

              Dam.... I am 5'5
If I continue on this diet what weight will I fall to?

I am not having any problems with sticking to the diet and I don't feel all the pressure to run out and "cheat" all that much. Most of the time I have no hunger at all. I eat more out of habit and boredom but I stick to cheese and wings any time I am hungry. Also I never deny myself so anytime I do want something I go get something. I just made sure to have things like sauces I like. Blue cheese and oil and vinegar were always my favorites so I scored big time with this diet. When I was a kid all I would eat was salad and blt's. So its sort of been quite enjoyable to switch to things I already enjoyed.

Hardest part for me was losing my italian dinners/sushi dinners.
I used to eat tons of bread and stuffed shells or rice with my sushi.

Really once you know you can lose the weight this fast and you see your body changing almost daily its a bit of a shocker. Its my fault if I gain it back.

Nothing I am eating I dislike.
subs in exchange for salad and wings?
I used to blame the dressings not the bread.

With the friends I have its always been the same problem.
Try(diet + workout like mad)... Lose no weight... Get annoyed.. Give up...
Only people I saw lose were people who were working out constantly to maintain for years. All of a sudden I swap out a few things and poof I am looking like I am going to fall to the lowest weight I have been since high school. Too funny...

Food Inc the movie was very helpful as well. I think I now understand both sides a little more. The need to produce tons of rich foods and the costs of high availability of those foods.

By the way if anyone wants to know I have not been working out.
But just losing the weight with the diet has caused me to become more active.

              Problems that have gone away...
Seat belt does not bother me
Fit into my old shirts again
Pressure in my underarms is gone
Legs do not rub together anymore so I stopped walking funny
              Breathing better
No more middle of the day energy crashes
              No more after dinner sleeping
              Stomach problems gone by 90%
              acid reflux 90% gone
Chest and belly let my shirt hang flat again
Dont feel addicted to soda anymore... used to drink a 2ltr just to be able to work
              Man boobs disappeared

Really have no desire to get those wonderful problems back. So I think I will be fine.

Since I am still losing pretty fast I am guessing my body has a bit more to go... Really the concept of goal is a joke... I want to see what my body is going to drop my weight to then once I level off I will see how much I can resume eating while I learn how to maintain.

I say I went on Atkins because thats the book I read and the place that gave me the information I needed to build my own variation that worked for me.
I never sat down and measured my salad nor the amount of protein consumed. I just removed all things that were causing me to hold the weight and ate an amount that was happy with. Not about denial its about tradeoffs.

I knew I could not do it if I could not eat out. Since I eat out almost every meal. Hate cooking so I had to find food I could get which would match my needs.

Side note: I tried those 6carb wraps but I could not lose when I ate them.

                  April 24 156.8 <<<****** !!!!!!

My loss rate has dropped a ton... I hit a wall for a few weeks but knew to keep going...
Started adding foods back in now.... But I try to keep them to weekends.
Can't believe the results with such little effort. My body responded so well its pretty unbelievable. Used the success to start helping fellow friends who were yoyo dieters.
And now I have 3 friends down as well. One of them is down 70 pounds too.
Still throwing out all the old clothes. Scary to look at myself in my old pants.

Also went to visit a friend who used his own diet methods... low cal and excercise.
He had lost 40 pounds but then I stopped by and he was binging on pizza and ice cream. Asked me how I had so much self control. Told him that on atkins I did not even feel like eating. Cravings were hardly there. Seeing him going through that made me remember my past failed diets where I did not understand how the sugars cause you to freak out like a drug. ie my soda addiction I thought I could not break.
That could have been me. He regained 40 and I went and lost the rest of the weight. Since he was a bit of a cocky guy I saw him break down and really ask me how I did it. I told him I have not felt that cravings since my sugars got under control and started showing him all the things he was eating which could cause cravings. He actually started listening.

On a side note, I have been a bit concerned since I have had no problem with cravings but now that I am adding sugar in the form of fruits and what not back in. I have woken in the middle of the night and went for fruit or splenda tea. I really think that if you get any taste of sugar in your system and you have an addictive personality or a carb addiction it can set you off. So now that I am with in my last 10 and I am adding things back in I feel its going to be the hardest part of this diet which is dealing with that craving for sweet that wont go away. Brushing my teeth seems to help.

Also another thing I have noticed is that persona is very hard thing to break and losing weight can cause you to have issues with other friends who have weight problems. The reaction can be a bit odd as its like a club where you quit. People can take offense if you lose and they feel they could never lose. I had some people tell me how I was going to rebound back and not to get all excited. Sad...

In your mind you have to decide how you see yourself and if you see your self as an overweight person then its going to be hard to deal if you lose the weight. I think I never saw myself that way.

Been having to do laundry like crazy since I only fit in a couple of pair of pants I bought all my old clothes are huge. I waited to buy clothes until I lost the weight and the old clothes hide just how much I lost so now I am wearing medium fitted shirts going from extra large baggie stuff. So when I bought the new clothes everyone was in a bit of shock. I am saving seeing my family until after I have lost all of the weight. That will surely be an interesting visit.

Good Luck to everyone and I hope you find what works for you...

                  P
