  • New to board - returning to Atkins

    Hello everyone!

I had some great sucess with Atkins 7 years ago - lost 40 pounds. I'm re-starting this time...I've gained my weight back and a little more. (currently at 190)
I have PCOS which makes it hard to lose weight, and not even Atkins could help until I started taking Metformin. SO we will give it a shot and see if it works!

My goal now is to lose 20 lbs and be 170. (I'm 5'4)

        Welcome to the board, jeorwa!

There is a thread for people with PCOS. I think it's in the Atkins for Health forum. I hope it helps.

Hi and welcome back to Atkins --

Good for you getting back on plan! I hope you have the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) - it's the edition we follow on this site. Exercise, take a non-iron vitamin and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of pure water. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
          http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Also many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
          Carole

Bleuberry lady - thanks - I will look that up!

imagood1 - Ooooh thanks for the recpie site, I will have to check that out! And I do have a couple copys of the book, I hope the one I have is the 2002 version...I will check when I go home tonight. I pretty much memorized how many carbs/fiber etc each food has in it last time, so that should help me out some.
And why a non iron vitamin? I have trouble with low blood iron, even though I eat a very large amount of red meat so I am supposed to take one. Will this hinder my weight loss?

Then you should take what you're supposed to take.

The caveat against a multi with iron is for the general population.
