  • Day 2 of induction

Hello everyone! My name is April I am 27 years old. I am from IL and planning on getting married this June. I already have my dress but it is corset so it can get tighter which is what I'm shooting for I have tried every diet known except for atkins. When my fiance proposed I set out on losing weight I first just decreased my intake and started exercising which worked I went from 269 down to 253 then I hurt my ankle. Its been hurt for over two months and I haven't been able to do much. Someone mentioned Atkins to me about a month ago so I started reseaching it and looked like some thing I could do so here I go. My short term goal is 15 pounds in 2 months 25 hopefully before June but I'm up for any weight loss.

    Re: Day 2 of induction

Welcome! I think your goals are totally doable. I am on day 7 of induction. Have you taken your measurements yet? It helps to have a baseline like that to work from so you know if even the scale gets stuck, you're still probably losing fat. Like in my case, I checked measurements on day 3, and again today (day 7) and my waist is a full INCH smaller yet not much change on the scale. Loss shows up in surprising ways! Measurements are indeed the best indicator because that's true fat loss! (Well I also exercise a lot so I figure I must be gaining muscle also).

    Also congratulations on your engagement!

How do you like Atkins so far? I found the first 3 days to be hardest as I was letting go of my emotional and physical need for sugar and bread and such. I found making some "mock" bread substitutions have really helped me through this last week. I make Atkins revolution rolls and they work well as hamburger buns and sandwich bread. They are allowed on induction and made from egg and either cottage cheese (the way I made them) or cream cheese (another variation) and take about 10 minutes to whip up and 30 or so minutes to bake. There are lots of good recipes here and on many other sites. Let me know if you need those links. Though I found most of them with a google search for low carb recipes.

Good luck and I am sure you'll succeed!

      Welcome to the ADBB, April!

Do you have the 2002 edition of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's the one we use here and it will give you the information and motivation to stick with the diet well beyond your wedding day.

In the meantime, read the forums for the short version of the diet and let us know if you have any questions.

        Re: Day 2 of induction

I don't think cottage cheese is induction friendly. Might want to recheck that. I know cream cheese is but you have to make sure you stay below your daily limit.

            Re: Day 2 of induction

            Welcome --

You should read the book first thing...the more information you have about anything the better you do.

Eat a variety of foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home and you won’t be tempted to eat something not allowed. Check Linda's recipe site it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Start a journal, it's a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself - you'll also meet some great people there! http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/. There’s something for everyone here!

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck to you!
