  • I'm new, and about 7lbs down

    So what, I cheated and looked on the scale today. I'm only on day six of induction but I couldn't help it ;p

    Anyway, I'm going to stick to this today. I like that I can still eat some veggies... I LOVE veggies And the meat is also excellent.

    But people keep feeding me this crap about health risks and it kind of scares me

    Anyway, HI! Nice to meet everyone! lol =)

      What helps you to stay focussed is to get a bit more info on nutrition and look into low carb eating and the science behind it. I usually recommend Good calories, Bad calories as a good (but dense) book to read. I think the most probabematic area of how we are eating is probably the amount of saturated fat we eat. But most research indicate that eating fat is not an issue - it is eating carbohydrates that is the issue. so look around - not in women's magazines and other places where they spew out unscientific garbage but real studies.

      I find it funny to ask people who criticize my eating if they want to compare their menu of that day with what eat. Some nasty surprises in store for them there.

        I actually have not; though I probably should. My father has been doing this for years, though. I'm getting the majority of the *good* info from him. He said his bad cholesterol went down and the good went up.

        It's mostly my uneducated friends just going off of rumors they've heard. I know I shouldn't listen to them but it's in the back of my mind lol.

        ...I should probably order that book heh.

              This is why I haven't told anyone I'm doing Atkins. Only DH and my Mom know about it. I know they are just going to rant and rave about all the risks when they really have no idea what they are talking about. Mom started until I gave her a run down of my typical days menu. She quickly realized I am eating much healthier now than I was before so she's all for it. Although she does keep telling me I'm getting too thin. Mom vision, yes I'm too thin at almost 160lbs and only 4'11". LOL

              Next time they say something tell them I ate lots of veggies, meat and healthy fats today. What did you eat? That might shut them up.

                Hehehe, typical Mum "you're getting too thin! Why do you want to be so thin!" My Mum says that kind of stuff all the time; she's 5'2 and 115 lbs!

                And THEN I always hear "You're supposed to be built like your father..." lol.

                I'm seeing the doctor for a physical tomorrow so I'm going to let her know that I'm doing this diet and hear what she has to say. I figure I should trust her the most, eh? lol

                  Hopefully your doctor approves of Atkins -- many doctors don't understand the healthy qualities of Atkins, they believe we only eat meat and cheese - no vegetables. Many of us say we are on a "low carb" diet - they love that....too bad they don't realize that Atkins is a "low carb" diet!
