  • day one

Today is my first day of Atkins!!! So far, so good. I had an omelet with cheese for breakfast and a chicken patty for lunch. The chicken patty was breaded but it only had 11 grams of carbs. I'm snowed in, so I have to work with what's in the house. Tonight, it's steak and some veggies.

I'm currently at about 190lbs and would like to get to 145lbs. This is so exciting, so much in my life is changing for the better right now. By the end of the year I will be a happier and healthier person!!

Welcome!! Yes it is very important to have legal food always handy, for me if I let myself to get hungry then I'm looking to eat whatever is around, but if I eat every 4-5 hours then I have no craving what so ever. I love that about this diet it, for me keeps the cookie monster at bay.!! Good Luck you can do it.

Couldn't you have had eggs and some veggies? Or steak and some veggies?

Staying under 20 net carbs is not the only thing that matters during Induction. You need to get those carbs from the right foods... which are the ones listed on the Acceptable Foods List (Ch. 11 of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002).

Also, you should be spreading your veggies throughout the day instead of eating them all in one meal.

Are over half of your daily net carbs coming from vegetables?

I'm glad you are able to do it the best you can!! Maybe when you are able to get out you'll be able to get some foods that are friendlier.

          Good luck!

            Welcome!

When you are able to get out and get legal foods - plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily.
