    Hello all. Today is day 2 for me in induction. and so far, im very optimistic.

    Im new to the whole forum thing (ive read many in the past for answers, but have never joined one. )

    Anyway, one concern i have is the limit of 3 cups of salad/veg a day. Is it ok to exceed this volume of salad if your net carbs stay below 20G a day? or do i just have to eat more meat so i dont need the extra cup of veg.

    Any helpful information would be so appreciated!

    The book says 2 cups of "salad" vegetables (this doesn't mean just lettuce, there are plenty of foods on the list to choose from that aren't lettuce) and 1 cup from the "other vegetable" list...OR 3 cups of "salad" vegetables daily. If you go over occasionally it should be ok -- within a couple days your appetite should subside some. If you are still hungry eat something with protein and fat - a piece of ham with cream cheese rolled up, a piece of chicken dipped in mayonaise. The combination of protein and fat will keep you feeling full longer.

    Also, how much water are you drinking? The minimum you should drink daily is 64 ounces - nothing added - just water (no tea, coffee, soft drink, crystal lite, etc). Many times when we think we are hungry our bodies are actually begging for water because we're dehydrated. Before you eat something drink a glass of water, wait 15 - 20 minutes and see if you are still hungry, or if you were just needing water.

          Warm welcome aboard!
          You can also eat one cup of "other veggies" in induction if you choose only two cups of salad veggies. Do look at the induction lists as there are lots of salad veggies that are not lettuce but are more nutrient dense.

          Induction is only two weeks... after that, I'd move straight to OWL (ongoing weight loss). The first rung is more veggies, and you can linger there if you don't want to go up the rungs too fast. Don't be afraid of OWL... you still get to lose weight... sometimes even faster on the first rungs!

            Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the suggestions. Water is no issue.. I drink at least 3 liters of water a day (i love my Sigg)
