    hey everyone my name is avi im 20 and im from manchester. my weight has constantly been going up and up and up, so i decided to give atkins a try. i did it for the last week just to get the hang of it and i felt i can do it. so this morning is my first morning. wish me luck. weighed in today at 305 pounds. hoping to get to .... skinny lol around the 200 mark for starters.
    hopefully will post pics of my first day soon.

    HI Avi --

    We use the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) as our guideline here on the board. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html. Make sure you eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs”. (net carbs are carb minus fiber equal net carbs) - check a program like www.Fitday.com to help keep track of your daily food.

    Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything in your home. Check Linda's recipe site - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

    Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces (approx
    1.89 litre) of pure water (nothing added), daily.

      Welcome to ADBB Avi

      You've come to a great place, with lots of friendly people. It's a great place to get any questions you have answered (just remember, you will get the Right Answer, not the answer you may want to hear )

      Good for you to take control of your health now while you are young. I know what helps me is to come to the board daily, post often, and join in some of the challenges. It helps to keep accountable.

        Make sure you do it properly. As the others suggest, get the book and read it. It will save you frustration, time and will help you understand the process. Wishing you success!
