  • Starting tomorrow...

Hello! My name is Michelle. My husband has done Atkins several times and was very successful, but gained it all back and recently started again. Now I want to join too so I can lose the weight I gained from my pregnancies. I would like to lose 20-25 lbs. to return to my pre-baby weight. I feel lucky my husband and I will have each other for support, but I still have to cook for the kids, so that part will be hard. I have been very sedentary so I need to start excersizing, too. I will probably just start with walking since I'm so out of shape. I'm glad I found this board for extra support and answers.

    Welcome to ADBB!

Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002)? You need to understand the diet so that you make it a lifestyle instead of stopping and gaining the weight back, as it happened to your husband.

For the kids, what about simply adding a starchy side and making their other foods the same as yours? It would be much easier, imo.

      Re: Starting tomorrow...

Hi Michelle and welcome. Since it always comes back, the question to ask this time around is if you are ready to make it a lifelong eating choice and not just a quick loss fix. That is not to say you won't stray from time to time but deciding "Atkins is how I eat day to day" changes the way you look at things a bit. Georgiana is right on the money with her advice about cooking for the family too. Throwing on some rice or potatoes on the side is an easy way not to have to cook two whole meals.

      HW (this time) 248
      GOAL ONE 228
      (take 2)
      GOAL TWO 213 (personal goal)
      GOAL THREE 199 ONE-DERLAND
      FINAL GOAL 165

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
