Hi everyone,
I'm 26 years old and tired of being unhealthy. I have never dieted, regularly exercised, taken vitamins or even cared a lick about my health until this year. I was, emphasis on was, one of those lucky few who had a lightening fast metabolism and could eat anything and everything in sight and never see it on my waistline. About 6 years ago that started to change. Little by little I've idly watched myself gain pound after pound doing nothing but crossing my fingers that my old metabolism was just taking a vacation. Unfortunately my slack attitude toward what I ate also applied to other areas of health, such as smoking.
about 2 months ago I got on a scale for the first time in years and realized I had gained over 70lbs since the last time I checked. I started noticing that I was out of breath from just walking up the stairs. I decided I was done with THAT!
I am proud to say however, that this year has been a turning point for me and I am "cleaning house" so to speak. I've quit smoking, cold turkey with not so much as a slip in almost 6 weeks (yay me!) and next on my list is to start eating better (followed swiftly by exercising etc, one thing at a time). I feel confident in my progress with quitting smoking and feel that it is time to take on the next hurdle. I picked up a copy of Dr. Atkins' book last week after hearing constant praise about it for years from friends and have read the first 11 or so chapters. (I stopped at "tracking your progress")
Today was my first official induction day. I look forward to exploring this site and to making new online buddies
