  • Hello Fellow Future Awesome Bodied Folks

Just joined up here. I have been dieting it seems, most of my adult life. I do P90x on a regular basis, but I reached a stalemate in my weight. I am proud to say that I am now at 187 from a previous 235, but now I need something to get the extra weight off and get to a happy 175. So, I decided to do the atkins thing. I did it in the past, many years ago, and had great success with it then, I only wish I would have stuck with it. But I guess hindsight doesn't help much.

So here I go, with a new adventure to get it off and keep it off.

Welcome to the board, Jim! And congrats on your loss so far.

The fact that you are already exercising will really help you alot. Do you have the 2002 edition of the book?

Actually I have an older version of the book. I am going to the book store tomorrow morning and see if I can find the newer version, I also need to find an updated pocket carb counter while I am at it. I used to have a small one that fit nicely in your back pocket.

I basically have full time web access with my smartphone and computers so I can get about any info I need on demand. Sure makes it nice.

Thanks for the welcome and I look forward to the journey.

      Jim

        Welcome --

Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). Keep track of your food totals for the day using a program like www.fitday.com to help you do that.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Many people find a journal a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself and meeting great people – http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/.

Atkins isn't a quick fix it's a way of eating for a lifetime...do your 2 week induction then move to OWL and start adding foods back so you know which you can eat without problem and which you need to avoid to keep your weight off. Hopefully once you get your last 10 pounds off you'll continue following Atkins to keep the weight off for a lifetime. If you need anything we’re here to help each other every step of the way! Good luck!
