  • Getting Started

I was on Atkins 30 yrs ago, now I'm starting again! Induction feels familiar, headaches the first few days, but better now, and feeling thinner already. I'm looking forward to the support and supporting others in this group.

    Thirty years ago. Nice.
We follow the more recent version of Atkins here. The one from his 2002 book. Just so you know.
    Nice to meet you.

      Re: Getting Started

      Welcome back after 30 years!!
Eat a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). Keep track of your food totals for the day using a program like www.fitday.com to help you do that.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. Many people find a journal a great place to get everything out in the open, be accountable to yourself and meeting great people – http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...journal-chats/.

If you need anything we’re here to help each other every step of the way! Good luck!
