  • Hello everyone- I am Brian- I am fat :)

Hello everyone on this site. First I want to say I appreciate everyones attitude and hard work to keep this site going. I can say that since 25 I have been gaining weight. I actually did Atkins for some weeks in 2000 and lost a considerable amount of weight. For whatever reason I quit, probably because I achieved the desired result quickly. As I have gotten older the weight came back stronger than ever. I found my xl polo shirts no longer fitting and the stomach and man boobs growing yearly. I always had some excuses or reasons to not diet. Like oh I will start tomorrow, but in reality tomorrow never came. I then one day decided I had enough of this fat and wanted to make a change. I started a very clean induction on February 3rd and have lost 12 pounds in 11 days I intend to make a serious change in my life. I like the people here like atkinsgal who will give **** when it is appropriate, is it actually inspiring. My girlfriend is the classical european. Blonde, slim and never gains weight. I made a promise to her to do this and also to myself because it is my desire. I will say that induction has been very easy and I follow the book to a T. The first couple of days the only complaint I can make is that the water made me have to run to the bathroom. Now it seems to be easing up. Before I eat my meal I drink 16 ounces. During and after my meal I drink until I feel full. I have worked my way up to about 100 ounces a day with the goal of about 150 a day. I am worried a little about electrolytes so sometimes I add fresh sea salt to my eggs or steak. If this is a bad idea or anyone has a better one please let me know. I have read so many posts on this site and I found one thing disturbing. People seem to be going strong and then disappear I do now want to be one of them. Again I want to thank all the hard core people on this site- great inspiration--

    Welcome --

Congrats on drinking enough water - many don't drink enough or think it's not essential to loosing weight. You're probably seen me post this before but it is important so here it is again: eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). Keep track of your food totals for the day using a program like www.fitday.com to help you do that.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Many people do loose weight then disappear - it's sad that we loose friends along the way but hopefully they have left because they are ready to maintain and don't feel the need for support anymore, and sometimes we see them again when they return because they need to loose a few pounds again.

If you need anything we’re here to help each other every step of the way! Good luck!
    Carole

Welcome to ADBB Brian You have definitely found a place filled with knowledge and inspiration.

I have read so many posts on this site and I found one thing disturbing. People seem to be going strong and then disappear I do now want to be one of them.

You have a BIG advantage over those folks because you have read these posts from the approach that they are to help and not a personal attack.

Best Wishes and I look forward to reading more about your journey.
