  • Good morning

    My name is John and I'm from a suburb of Houston, Kingwood, TX. I began the induction phase on Wednesday, Feb 10 and today starting my sixth day.

    I began the Atkins Nutritional approach to initially lose 80 lbs and then benefit from the change in lifestyle to keep the weight off.

    I am 53 years old and am blessed with a wonderful wife and six beautiful children.

    Good morning John. Welcome. This place is a wealth of information and support, feel free to visit, read, and post often. This place was key to my prior success with this WOE (way of eating).

          Thank you for the greeting; sounds like to me you must be living in Dallas since that is the only place I'm aware with the disillusionment to believe it is not sheer bliss to live in the city named after the founder of our country - Houston, Texas!

            Welcome John,
            Being over 50years old it has taken me 18 months to lose 50 pounds. So, do not get discourage if things go slow . Just remember you will feel much better on this life style.

              Hi John -

              Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). Keep track of your food totals for the day using a program like www.fitday.com to help you do that.

              Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

              Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we're here to help each other!
