  • Anyone else with Not Alot to Lose?

I don't really have that much weight to lose (15-20 lbs) but it is the same amount I've been struggling to get rid of pretty much all of my life! I'm only 5'1" so according to charts I should be around 105 lbs. Well I don't think I've ever been at that weight. My body loves the 130s and it is a struggle to get below it. I got down to 115 once by almost starving myself but didn't stay there long. I've exercised most of my life and have quite a bit of muscle so a more realistic weight in my mind is 120 lbs.

Is there a support group for those struggling to lose less than 50 lbs? I'm having a hard time relating to those with alot of weight to lose because they all seem to lose weight so quickly and here I am struggling with a small amount to lose.

I am in the same boat! I am currently 188 and my goal is 160 (sounds like alot but I look great at 160) and Im 5ft 8 in. It wierd because I could eat a ton of food and my body would happily stay this weight but I have to work super hard to lose it. 28 lbs seems so simple and I see people dropping that on induction! But Ive heard it a million times...the more you have to lose the faster you will start losing it! Stay with the course though, at least you know your doing right for yourself and for me just the stable energy is enough to keep me going at this point. I hate sugar crashes! Good luck, Tory

        Welcome to ADBB

Is it possible your body wants to weigh in the 130s? The "charts" aren't always correct.

Is this your first day on Induction?

Re: Anyone else with Not Alot to Lose?

I've been on Induction for about 4 weeks now. To be perfectly honest I didn't weigh myself when I started because I tend to become obsessive about the number on the scale. So I just started and a week later I found that I was able to fit into my smaller size slacks which was a good enough measure for me. I probably lost about 6 lbs. I finally got on the scale after the 2nd week and was at 130. At my last dr. appt. I was at 137 so I'm thinking I lost at least 6 lbs. However, after the third week I stepped on the scale it said 131 so I was very disappointed to say the least. I haven't stepped on the scale again because I'm afraid I'll mentally go to a dark place if I don't like what I see. I'm just trying to stay positive. I plan to stay on Induction for another week and then get on the scale again. I get so discouraged because losing weight has always been a struggle for me. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions they'd like to share?

Please move to OWL. If you want to do Atkins as a lifestyle change, you need to do all the phases.

Re: Anyone else with Not Alot to Lose?

It sounds like it would be helpful for you to read the 2002 DANDR (Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution) book - it's the edition we follow on this site. Because you have such a small amount of weight to loose 2 weeks on induction (as the book states) then on to OWL Rung 1 - adding 5 additional net carbs of vegetables to your daily meals. On each rung you will add foods back into your daily meals. Moving up the rungs the way they are set up is the idea way to add foods back. You'll continue to loose weight while moving up the rungs. Taking time moving from rung to rung will help you find the foods you can eat without problem and those that you'll have to avoid or only eat on occassion.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of pure water (nothing added) - 64 ounces is the minimum daily. Also take a multivitamin without iron and exercise daily.

                Good luck to you
