  • Hi...I'm back...

Not really new to Atkins, just back for good this time.

I'm a 43 year old working mother of 4 children. Looked at some pictures of myself in a bathing suit from last summer and cringed!!!!! Time to get serious!!!! Gained lots of weight during pregnancies that just never went away. Last child weighed 11 lbs, and my body seemed to like the shape I guess, but he's 8 years old now...

Lost 40 pounds the last time I used Atkins, this time it's a lifestyle change. Hubby doesn't need to lose weight, but really enjoys my Low Carb Cooking. I've found allot of great recipes on the forum. Thanks! I don't think I'll miss my old life at all!

Welcome Back, and welcome to ADBB.

It is a wonderful way of living, and you're lucky that your hubby likes your cooking too! With 4 children, it's a bit more of a challenge, but getting alot of the processed high carb & sugar foods won't hurt them either. Have you checked out Linda's site for more GREAT recipes?

      Re: Hi...I'm back...

I had to laugh at your post. My last one was almost 10lbs and is 9, can't use her as an excuse anymore either LOL Glad to see you back on track.

I tease my oldest DS (almost 16) that I'm only 30lbs away from a bikini this summer. Maybe a yellow polka dot bikini. With all my stretch marks this body will never be bikini ready again but the look on his face is priceless. I will find a super cute one this year though.

        Re: Hi...I'm back...

Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html. There is no reason your children can't eat and enjoy the same meals you do - just add more items for them but the way we eat is healthier than they have been eating!

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything all you have to do is ask – we try to help each other here as much as possible.

          Re: Hi...I'm back...

Thanks for the suggestions. I love experimenting with all of these recipes. My husband comes home in the evenings and wants to know what cullinary delight I'm cooking up tonight When I did Atkins before, all of these wonderful recipes weren't available so my diet was very bland, hence, it didn't last.

My children are another story. They have always been very picky eaters, so I'm taking it very slow. I refuse to fix seperate meals, so they either eat what I eat, or they fix something for themselves.

Both of my DD's need to lose a little weight, but my youngest DS is stick thin. If I "made" him go LC he'd probably die of starvation. Oh well, baby steps... I think my oldest DD could probably do LC if she put her mind to it. We'll see.

Hubby bought me a treadclimber for Valentines day. Can't wait to get it and get started. Have ALWAYS been one to drink alot of water, but I'll have to confess, I have to have my Chardonnay at night.I'm sure I would lose alot faster IF I gave it up, but I'm still losing, so I'll leave it alone for now.

Can't believe how many people are really on Atkins! Glad to know I'm among friends...

            >>I'll have to confess, I have to have my Chardonnay at night.>>

Actually, you don't. You've just told yourself that!

You know that alcohol isn't permitted on Induction.

And you know that as long as you have alcohol in your system, you won't burn fat. So it seems that the Chardonnay that you "have to have" is just working against you ... and your goals.

I know, and I will eliminate it eventually. Going through a stressful time at the moment, and yes, that's my crutch. I am burning fat though, I can see it!

                Re: Hi...I'm back...

                Life is stressful.

You would do better to find some other coping mechanism than alcohol.

If you can't give alcohol up for two weeks, then maybe you have a bigger problem than a stressful time.

No I don't. Didn't say I couldn't give it up, just don't want to at the moment.

                    Princess,

Believe me, I'm not judging you.

What you choose to do on your journey is your decision.

I would hope that you find we are all here for support ... and that support comes in different ways.

The only person to "judge" you is you.
