  • Taking the leap to be an atkineer

Hey guys! I'm a 23 year old musician from Kentucky. I currently weigh in at 310 pounds. All my weight is in my stomache and chin. A doctor told me that a good portion of my weight is in my legs and arms in the form of muscle (I'm a drummer and have very very firm arms and legs). I don't have any sort of health problems due to my weight but I have decided enough is enough: I want to get back down to about 160. I am going to the store tonight to get all the Induction supplies as I found on here and Bowulf's youtube channel.

I would just like to thank Bowulf as well for his video that TRUELY inspired me that it can be done and that I will benefit from it. So, here I go about to take this voyage with many others! Wish me luck!

You're reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002), too, right?

    It's essential to you success.

Yep! I have a digital copy right now but I plan on going to the bookstore ASAP to get a hard copy of it. I find E-Books to big a pain to use for anything.

        Some of them aren't complete.

Good to have a "real" copy!

Best of luck -- you are in the right spot. Without the members here, I would never have never got to goal myself or remained inspired enough to stay there. I am sure if I could do it that any body can. The support here is that good.

Welcome, glad you found us and joined, and you even got Kent to pop his head out to say hello. (Hey Kent) He has been an inspiration to a lot of folks.

I remember my first time at the store, I was there for an hour, reading everything I thought I needed, only to find out they were all carbs. LOL

I did that at the grocery store tonight.... then realized I forgot the list I made based on Kent's video *facepalm*. So I got ONLY the things I know for SURE... Like steak and eggs lol. I'll be going back tommorow or the next day to get EVERYTHING.

Congrats on making the choice to begin a new WOL. My DH and I have been playing with a country band for 30 years. He's a pianist, so he's got some great ab and leg muscles from holding his feet off the floor a lot. But he was always chunky and kept gaining and gaining, right along with me. Then we discovered Atkins, and the rest, as they say, is history. We've been at it for over six years and it's completely changed our lives. There were many people who walked right by him after his intial weight loss of 80 pounds. He looks totally different! We both feel great, too!

I know you're going to do great!

Re: Taking the leap to be an atkineer

Welcome -- here is a list of acceptable foods you can print out and carry in your wallet. I've been doing this a long time but still check my copy when I'm at the grocery store.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html. Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily.

                  Good luck to you.
