    Joined the site a couple of weeks back, just got over induction and thought I'd introduce myself. First time on Atkins,and hopefully will follow through. Read the book and am going through the site (It's huge!!).

    Having a hard time of it because most of the allowed vegetables are ones I haven't even heard of, let alone trying to find them here in the UAE (Google is my best friend!!) . Even if you do find them, they are soooo expensive because they have to be shipped or airfreighted here. Am someone whose entire diet used to revolve around rice,wheat,pulses,milk and a completely different palate. Also have a sugar addiction that I've been battling since the beginning of the year.

    Am now in week 3, have lost about 4 kgs, weigh myself once a week, and beginning to feel like myself again ( had terrible mood swings last two weeks - DH was tiptoeing around me, poor thing!!). Will be doing an extended induction as have quite a bit to lose and need to retrain myself.

    Welcome! (We say Merhaba in Turkish too!) Don't get discouraged, hopefully you will find food choices that fit into induction. 4 kgs is great! Congratulations! And you got through the first two weeks which is the most difficult for most. Keep up the great work!

      Welcome to the board, Diva!

      Try looking for the nutritional value of whatever vegetables do grow where you live and if they are non-starchy, they will be allowed.

        Don't forget to get enough water in daily -- nothing added, just water...you should be drinking a minimum of 64 ounces (approx 1.89 litre). What type of exercise have you started?

        Good luck finding vegetables you can eat -- I still can't believe how many veggies I eat!!

          Thank you for the kind words. Wishing you'll the best of luck too. Imagood - am drinking 2 litres a day, wasn't a big water drinker before so have to keep reminding myself to drink. Never thought drinking water would be hard!!
