    Im BAAACK!

First time I went on the Atkins plan was in the Marine Corps in 1982. I've started and stopped several more times since.

Currently, I find myself a 52 year old diabetic, and although I've lost 60 pounds using various methods, my blood sugars are stil out of control.

This morning, at 291 pounds, I have recommited myself to the Induction Phase. I should see results in my blood glucose numbers some time this weekend.

I know, and have known for a long time, that most carbs have not been my friend for decades, now it is time to run them out of my life!

          Welcome!

I'm a type 2 diabetic and have had good results following the Atkins plan - I hope you have the same results.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.

Thanks for the thanks (Marine and Illinois)!

End of week one, a few miss-steps and a major OOPS this weekend.

            Minus 4+ pounds.

Back on the horse for week 2.

Found a great recipe for pizza without the crust (although I have no problem scraping the toppings of the crust). I call it Plate-za (cooked on a plate or pizza pan till melted and browned. It's yummy!

                Re: Im BAAACK!

Looks great! I will give it to my wife, she just happens to work in a grocery store, so geting the ingredients should be no problem. I will need to buy a baking stone. But it should have plenty of uses.

                Thanks,

                Jay
