  • Introduction

    Hello Everyone,

I'm glad to be here. I have about 70 pounds to lose and have decided to give Atkins a try. Goodness knows I've tried lots of other things and I used to look down my nose at Atkins when it first came out years ago.

I'm planning to start the Induction Phase tomorrow. I have downloaded the Atkins Essentials Two-Week Program book to my Kindle so I could start reading it tonight.

I look forward to getting to know you. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Welcome.
The induction programme we use here is a bit different from the one they published after Atkins diet (The company has the right to use the Atkins name and they publish stuff they call Atkins)
If you want to know how induction was like in the last book written when Atkins was still alive check out this:

      Welcome Daisy!
We follow Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) 2002 edition.
I have not read the Essentials book, but suspect it is not the same.
There is lots of good information and support here.
Read and follow DANDR, drink lots of water, exercise, and watch the weight fall away

Many of the online books aren't complete - the real book is a better bet. You can usually find an inexpensive copy online at amazon or half.com.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible. Good luck to you.

            Re: Introduction

Thanks for the tips. I compared the Kindle edition to the print and it is identical. I also ordered a (free) copy of the print book from paperbackswap.com/ PBS is a great service for readers to swap books if you enjoy reading. My paper copy will be here in a few days, but I've already started my Kindle one.

I'm just getting started today. Psychlogically and pantry-wise, I wasn't ready this weekend, but I am now. today is my first day on the induction foods. Thanks for asking!
