Hi there,
I did atkins to lose weight about for about 4 mos. in 2003-2004 and lost some weight, then I got pregnant and quit.
So, I am taking the plunge to try it again for health reasons. I had 3 grand mal seizures (1 in oct. and 2 in Dec.) and I know some people use the ketosis diet for epilepsy. I have had epilepsy since I was 15 but haven't had grand mals for over 12 yrs.
I also was told that I could have poly cystic ovary syndrome and was told to go on a high protien diet. The PCOS wasn't confirmed then because I had been diagnosed w/thyroid cancer and that took precedent.
I noticed over the past months a form of hypoglycemia when I wouldn't eat protien in the mornings.
I'm in the 2nd week of induction and started at a weight of between 208/206 lbs. and I am currently ranging around 20o now.
This time doing Atkins I've been impressed w/how far the bars and shakes have come in taste. I also realized ranch dressing was allowed for induction & was thrilled cause it makes my salads desireable.
I'm thankful to have wonderful support from my cooking husband, and my kids even ask if I can have a certain food on my diet. The foods w/the "A" on them are mom's.
So far I have only had one non-induction food(an endulge bar for the other phases)
It's been a little slower losing this time but I've started doing strength exercises and maybe
building some muscle.
I'm looking forward to starting the 1st stage of OWL after the 14 days, as variety will keep me going and make Atkin's work for me.
