    Welcome to ADBB!

With only 8 pounds to lose, you might want to start with OWL rather than Induction.

        Re: New to the Diet

hello, htanks so much for your kind words....i know it seems like a little bit to lose but wierd thing is i am over in my bmi because i an only 5'2, my cholesterol went high and i started having sugar lows. I was eating too many carbs and drinking too many margaritas . I am 37 and weight 138 and really should be 126-130 ideally so my doc put me on cholestrol meds and told me to drop the weight and cut the carbs. I exercise 3-4x a week cardio but if I dont manage my eating i dont really lose any. And i do love fattening, fried food LOL....am learning to enjoy or at least swallow lol veggies/salad. I love desert so its going to be tuff for the induction but i can always have a diet coke (which i dont really drink much of) if i need a sweet craving. I drink tons of water about a gallon a day and have to stay away from heart burn causing food like bacon or spicy sausage.

hardest will be in the morning i love yogurt and cherrios or raisen bran...so looking forward to adding them back in after induction.

I think i need induction to get me losing weight and also limit my beers lol on the weekends...

looking forward to seeing results and having support to make it through!! love reading the posts....cindy

Cheerios and Raisin Bran will not likely come back to your eating for a very long time. Neither are Atkins friendly.

            Alcohol isn't permitted on Induciton.

If you have a sweet craving, the best thing you can do is to not feed it.

Are you reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution?

I've never known anyone to achieve their goals without one.

Since it will be more than a week, probably, before you get the book, you should check out:

Also, your local library may have a copy to tide you over.

You might also consider a copy of "Atkins for Life".
