  • Hello my name is: Cynthia

    HI EVERYONE,

my name is cynthia and i have been trying atkins off and on for the last 4yrs. i dont know what my highest weight was but i do know that i was bigg enough to fit into my husbands size 2xl shirts when he grew out of them into a 3xl. i use to be a size 6. i was 3 months pregnant and fit into a size 7 and then i dont know what happened? got put on bed rest from my sixth month on and just blew up. and that was 11 yrs ago! where does the time go? i dont like being 31 and weighing 267. thats what i weighed when i decided to go back on the atkins diet this last time. the last time i seriously tried the atkins diet i went down to 184 and then my grandmother who raised me died. i went into an almost 2yr depression. naturally i gained weight but not all of it back. this time mens xl was my biggest which on the scale read 267 which was in 10 months ago. not too bad 50 lbs in 10 months!!!

man why does it come back so much faster than it goes away???

now my problems are huge to actually stay on the atkins diet! i am catholic and since lent started on wed i only eat what i dont like:fish?
i am self employed and i eat almost every meal out in the streets at various food establishments from fast food to resturants. i mostly eat doublez here in southern california. yes protein style. i get the bacon avacado protien cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce, no sauce mustard instead and no onions. i also like their chicken breast salad or chief salad occasionaly. at el pollo loco i get a 3pc white with salad and veggies. i also treat my self to boston market with veggies and salad. at resturants i get steak and veggies and before the popeys closed i use to get naked chicken strips. breakfast by far is the easiest meal!!! omletes, steak and eggs, eggs, bacon, sausage, must i say more? my issue is cooking at home well eating out is nice, it is also very expensive!!! if i can stop eating out i could then save up to buy a house! i have a family of four so when we eat out twice a day like we do i am paying for 8 meals!!! when i cook at home it just tastes so dry cause my husband wants his meat to have burnt marks and taste crispy and we all know thats what dries it out. the veggies i always over cook!

i need ideas!!!! i want crisp veggies with loads of flavor! i want meat that taste like resturant quality. please help need to get back down to 150. and i need to stop eating out because it is soooooo hard to take your daughters to mc donalds and sit there watching one child eat a big mac while the other eats a ten piece while i have that generic chicken salad!!! and then im not suppose to fall of the wagon??? well i didnt fall off the wagon since thats what i did last nite. oh and i just started the atkins diet again on saturday 2-20-10.

now if i can only get by on friday.!!!

    Welcome to ADBB!

    >> i want meat that taste like resturant quality.>>

I have to smile ... I prefer restaurant food to taste like I make it at home ... where it's not adulterated with chemicals, cooked the way I want ...

Seems to me that you just need to take more care in your cooking ... not overcooking vegetables is pretty easy ...

And you know the chicken salad at McDonald's isn't so great a choice? Here's the ingredients in the chicken:

Boneless, skinless chicken breast filets with rib meat containing: up to 12% of a solution of water, seasoning [salt, sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, spices, whey, flavor (maltodextrin, natural flavors (vegetable source), dextrose, monosodium glutamate), partially hydrogenated soybean and cottonseed oils, Romano cheese (Romano cheese {milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes, calcium chloride}, nonfat dry milk, disodium phosphate), parmesan cheese powder (enzyme modified parmesan cheese {milk, cheese cultures, salt, enzymes, calcium chloride}, nonfat dry milk, disodium phosphate), methylcellulose, xanthan gum, cheese flavor (dehydrated cheddar cheese {cultured pasteurized milk, salt, enzymes}, maltodextrin, autolyzed yeast extract), extractives of paprika (color), potassium sorbate (preservative), citric acid, and less than 2% silicon dioxide added to prevent caking], vegetable oil [partially hydrogenated soybean oil, corn oil, citric acid (preservative)], sodium phosphates. May contain wheat from contact with Crispy Chicken Breast Filet.

Do you have low carb cookbooks?

    Do you use:

Atkins Food and Recipes - Atkins Diet

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home

And ... having your children eat McDonald's isn't really doing them any good for the long term, either.

Are you still hanging in there? I hope so. It all sounded a bit much to me. You have to start with one thing at a time that you can tackle I think. You and your family will have to try to eat a bit healthier - eating out like that will not be good for any of you in the long run. So have a family meeting and decide how you guys are going to start getting healthy together.
