  • Newbie here

Hi all! Getting ready to start Atkins and figured that I would need the support of the boards. I am nervous as I have a lot of weight to lose and haven't dieted in a looooong time. Honestly I had just given up but am hoping that this time will be the charm!
    Blessings to you all

Congratulations on starting somewhere! We've all been in your place or are still there. This way of eating is great, you get all the goodness and the cravings for sweets goes out the window! As you climb the rungs you are able to eat more and more items.

Don't be nervous, dive in and post often. The board is really helpful and friendly!

        WELCOME!

          Re: Newbie here

          Welcome!

You aren't "dieting" you are starting a new way of eating for a lifetime....the food we eat tastes so good you won't feel deprived of anything -- there are ways around anything you could possibly want to eat. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). The book is available online for a few dollars - the more you know about the program the easier it is to succeed.

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.
