Hi, I'm new to this, but bear with me, Please!
I recently was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and metobolic syndrome. My cardiologist did a complete runover with tests and has put me on a program that has given me wonderful results, and a new vision for my future health. I have lost 36 lbs, a victory after being over weight for the last 25 years, and following a auto accident 6 yrs. ago that left me unable to walk normally because of the injuries I suffered, and still do.
I am finishing the first phase of The Dr.'s program that has given me a jumpstart. He is monitoring my progress monthly, and at some point I will be on the Atkins diet for life.
My husband is also a type 2 diabetic and will be on a carb controlled eating plan along with me, which makes this easier to do for the long haul.
I am looking forward to the help that this website has to help us manage our eating plan, especially during the summer and the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays seasons.
Need to aquire recipes for these occasions that we will need so that I won't be in the dark when the time comes.
Thanks for your help and Thank God for Atkins. I believe God raise him up for a purpose , and his accomplishments have helped and "saved" many lives.!

        Hi and welcome --

What type of "jumpstart" did your doctor give you to follow? Just curious since we follow the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution edition here.

Atkins is a wonderful way to eat for diabetics - I hope it helps you as well as your husband. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily.

If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.
        Carole
