  • First the worst...Second the best??

    Hi there!!

This is my second time starting the atkins diet after losing almost 2 stone this time last year, and putting more back on!

I enjoyed the diet and was really pleased and motivated but then I started seeing this boy and got comfortable and ate like a boy! Bad mistake! Although I am still with him, I have noticed what I like to call 'muffin top' over the top of my pants!!

Question... What can I eat as a packed lunch? As this time around I am working and no longer in college where I could nip home at lunch?

    Good luck and happy atkinsing!!

    Welcome to ADBB!

Just about anything. Do you have access to a microwave? If you take something cold, then you can carry it in an insulated lunch sack.

      Thanks!
No we don't have a microwave and I am quite a fussy eater also.
Last time I was living on chicken, bacon, eggs and cheese in all different kinds of ways!
I think I will have to do the same this time, I'm sure my colleagues will give me funny looks but I prefer not to tell people I am dieting, as I find when they ask how I'm doing, it lowers my confidence.

        No vegetables?

Atkins is about the vegetables, you know.

Without vegetables you're not doing Atkins.

Good luck with whatever it is you are doing.

Emmy, if Atkins is how you want to eat for life, then I would suggest you read the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution.

On Atkins, vegetables are not optional.

                Hi Emmy --

You should be eating foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs). There has to be some type of vegetable from the lists you will eat....there are so many to choose from.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. If you need suggestions for meal planning Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

For lunches you can have deviled eggs, ham rolled up with cream cheese inside, chicken, pork chops, salad, raw vegetables, lots of things to choose from.

Make sure you are drinking a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily -- if it isn't pure water it isn't counted....

                Good luck to you
                Carole
