  • Hello Adbb

I'm Joey...I'm new to the board but i've been reading entries for about 2 weeks getting as much info as possible regarding the Atkins diet...I've been a big guy all my life...I've played football so my size, it was justified...A couple years after football, the pounds kept adding up...I want to change my eating habits and be healthy for my family and myself...My friend from college has been doing Atkins and she has had great results. We would laugh and have fun but when she started to loss weight, i was jealous and interested...I have a lot of questions regarding induction...I have the new diet revolution and Atkins Complete DVD but there are some holes that i'm finding...Thank you in advance for all of the support and answers...

Sure ask away. We have an induction forum as well as an extended induction forum for those who stay on induction after the first 14 days.

If sugar has been added - under the list of ingredients - then you skip it. But if it is just on the nutritional label they are just listing the natural sugar in broccoli and there will always be natural sugar in broccoli.

            Thanks Liv...

What about lunch meat? I went to the store and looked at lunch meat? Some has carbs and some has carbs and sugar? should i stay away from lunch meat in general?

              Re: Hello Adbb

Lunch meat is usually super sweet stuff. Lots of sugars added either in the form of sugar or dextrose (which is sugar). So it really best to stay away from it.
There is a company called Boar's Head that make some sugar free stuff so if you can find that you are lucky.

Atkins is about "whole, unprocessed" foods. Lunch meat is neither whole nor unprocessed.

I don't eat it very often ... and then I try to buy quality. I try to by nitrate free ... Hormel has a line.

You can also make your own roast turkey and roast beef for meats at lunch.
