  • Hello

Hey. My name is Tony, and I just started Induction last Monday, Feb 22nd, 2010. I'm happy to find there's a community for Atkins' adherents - I'm certain success stories and other people going through the same thing will be beneficial to my success, and I'm hoping I can be helpful to others, as well.

I've been fat most of my life, but lost a lot of weight my senior year of high school just by increasing my activity and cutting back my eating a tiny bit. After college and beer and pizza and gaming took their toll, though, I was well on my way to 450, a number which is absolutely ridiculous, and scary no less.

I'm 25 years old, and decided that I had to do something or I was probably going to never change, and so I'm here and I've stuck to induction thus far, and have no plans or cravings to change that. I've started, this week, to re-incorporate exercise and weight lifting into my daily routine, and I'm hoping to get an accurate number on my weight tomorrow at the gym. Anyway, I'm stoked to get started as a member of this community and I guess if you have any questions, ask.

    Re: Hello

    Welcome Tony!

Congratulations on sticking to induction - it sounds like you are in a good frame of mind for getting to your goal. Have you read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) - it's our guideline here on the board.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

You said you are exercising, that's great! Don't forget to take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.

      Welcome, Tony!

"To change that" yet, I hope... because you'll need to progress through all the phases of Atkins to learn how to keep your weight off.

      Good job on the exercise!

        Re: Hello

Welcome Tony! Stick with it and you will see great results. It worked for my son (20) and at your age you will probably lose faster than most of us older slowpokes. LOL

It's not about the results. Its about the process.
