    Hello everyone

    Hi,

Started Adkins last last Wednesday, down 10 pounds. I started for myself, and my family. I am 44 yrs old, 5'7" and have been over 200 for about ~15 years. My sister died from a heart attack 1 1/2 years ago, she was about 100 pounds overweight also, she was a smoker and in a terrible marriage that was a constant source of stress. I only share her overweight and maybe some genetic heritage. But I am trying to stay here a bit longer for my kids sake. I have definitely had an addiction to sugar. Never enough. Eat a bowl of ice cream, then some chips....1/2 later looking in the fridge.....

I was quite thin, fit and muscular when I was 25, and all the years previous. I am going on a cruise April 7th and am hoping to have maybe 40 dropped by then, but I am going to have to hit the workout room hard.

I hope I have the will power not to end up like several posters who seem to be super excited for a couple weeks and 10-15 posts and then sadly you never see them again. I must get this done! I appreciate all of you veterans who help guide us noobs.

    Jon

welcome to ADBB and to atkins.

while you are highly motivated right now write yourself a letter about why you DESERVE to get all the things you want from Atkins better health smaller body etc. Make copies of it and reread it every morning and every night. if a high carb food should call your name loud enough that you feel you can't resist then get out your letter and a black piece of paper and write a new letter to yourself about why you DESERVE that food more then the healtheir smaller you. If you finsih the letter have the food cause boy do you deserve it.

So far nobody has posted they finished the letterbefore eating the foods that took them off plan.

              Welcome!

The best advise someone gave me when I started was to plan meals a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/menus.html.

Good luck to you -- if you need anything we're here to help each other!
