  • 3rd time around....3rd time's a charm?!

Hi. I have done this diet before. Once in about 2005 and I got to goal weight in 3 months. I lost about 20 pounds I believe. Got back up to 160ish and went on again about a year ago. Lost 10 pounds, fell off track and back to regular eating I went.

A month or so ago I was up to 178. That is the highest I have ever weighed, including heavier than I was 9 months pregnant. I am 5'7. So I lost a few pounds before starting this time as I was disgusted with myself. Nothing fits, I felt tired all the time, just didn't feel good about me, at all. Today I have been on induction one week. I started at 174. I have lost 5 pounds. I am no longer tired all the time already! Love it. I have 30 to lose, and to me, that is overwhelming. Any tips would be very much appreciated. I am exercising 2x one hour each week (a class). I have 4 children and it is sometimes hard to get things in order for myself as I have to feed them and my husband too.

I have read so many stories of AMAZING people, I know to some people 30 pounds doesn't seem like a lot but it seems like it will never be attainable and SO far off. I have no patience that is my problem. I have trouble sticking with it, if a stall comes, that is my excuse to tell myself it isn't working anyway so I might as well have a bagel!! Anyone who has overcome the lies we tell ourselves I would love to hear your story!

    Good luck to all!!

There is no secret-just determination. Wish it were easier but it is not. But we are here to help you along the way.

I agree with Jill, the will and determination to suceed on this WOE has to come from inside you. We are all here to lend a shoulder and support but in the end it's only you that can control how you react to your stalls (which will almost definitely come) and the temptations you face.

One thing that helps is knowing you are getting healthier on this WOE and that alone will add years to your life. Next time you want that bagel look at those kids and decide which is more important. Having a bagel (or whatever) that will make you feel good for a minute or spending a few more years watching them grow up.

I think the choice will be pretty easy to make.

Congratulations coming back to the program. This WOE works. It not only helps you to maintain a healthy weight for yourself, it gives you oodles of energy and improves your health. Show me a bagel that does that! Psh!

It is so hard when you have little ones that take what time you have. Sometimes you just don't feel like you have the time you need to invest in yourself. It is worth it to squeak that time in however you can.

I am thrilled that you are here and that you are going to be healthy for your kiddies!

Did you move to OWL and Pre-Maintenance, or did you do Induction until you reached goal?

I have no patience that is my problem.
You only need patience if you have expectations with a deadline tag attached to them. Once you decide to change your way of eating for life instead of focusing on weight loss, it will be much easier to "stick with it".

When you decide that this is something for the rest of your life and not a diet, then, and only then, will be when you become successful.
Do you want a solution, or do you want me to tell you what you want to hear, which is what kept you the way you are.
